Flamingo in the Garden
English/Chinese
Inspired by director Xinhui Ma’s own experience, this animated short follows a young Chinese woman recovering from a surfing injury in a Moroccan hospital. Isolated by language and immobility, she retreats into a morphine-induced dream world of desire, heartbreak, and transformation before reclaiming her body and sense of self.
